We here at Honest Marijuana love thinking up fun activities to try while we’re stoned out of our gourd on 100-percent-organic ganja. We love to play weed games and listen to music. But by far, our absolute most-favorite thing to do when we’re half-baked on baked goods is to watch movies. As a tribute to that activity, the experts at Honest Marijuana have put together a list of the 50 best movies to watch high. Enjoy!

Best Movies To Watch High

1. Inception (2010)

Inception is one of those movies that will blow your mind when you’re completely lucid. So just imagine what it will do when you’re already flying in a Blue Dream.

2. The Matrix Trilogy (1999-2003)

The Matrix trilogy is great to watch high, not for the quality of the movies, necessarily, but for the sheer wow-factor of the special effects.

3. Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy (2004)

There are few things more entertaining than straight-faced farce, and no one does that better than Will Ferrell. All we can say about this movie is jazz flute, people, jazz flute.

4. Animal House (1978)

Toga parties, boys behaving badly, Donald Sutherland’s naked tooshie, and a character that inspired a Twisted Sister song (“You’re all worthless and weak! Now drop and give me twenty!”)—what more could you ask for.

5. Interstellar (2014)

Time slippage due to increased gravity? Been there done that. Maybe couch lock is a terrestrial analog of the forces produced by a singularity. Wouldn’t it blow your mind if that were true? Hmmm…

6. The Big Lebowski (1998)

Nothing could be better than watching the Dude (“His Dudeness, Duder, or El Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.”) stumble through life smoking Js, bowling, and wondering what the hell’s going on. We’ve all been there.

7. Fight Club (1999)

We love this movie for the truth it speaks and for the twist at the end that will make you rewind and rewatch it from the beginning.

8. Dude, Where’s My Car (2000)

This movie is so absurd that the only way to truly enjoy it is to watch it high.

9. Oblivion (2013)

Oblivion is one of the few sci-fi movies on this list, but it’s worth watching because of the massive twist at the end that actually made us say, “Whoa!”

10. Dazed & Confused (1993)

Even though this movie is about coming of age in the early 1990s, you’ll identify with what the characters are going through, even 25 years later.

11. Up In Smoke (1978)

We don’t have a lot of the stereotypical stoner movies on our list, but Up In Smoke is a must-see for all of you who want to know about weed culture before cannabis was legal.

12. Ted (2012)

A talking teddy bear that swears, drinks, and smokes Mary Jane? Instant classic.

13. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

2001: A Space Odyssey is one of those movies that can really only be understood while you’re high as a kite.

14. Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle (2004)

A movie about the quest for more dope. ‘Nuff said.

15. Friday (1995)

Chris Tucker, Ice Cube, and a cast of colorful characters show you what it’s like trying to come up with $200 in the hood. “Daaaaaamn!”

16. Monty Python & The Holy Grail (1975)

The Monty Python crew have always been funny, but give them an hour-and-a-half and a killer bunny, and you’ve got a comedy that can’t be beat.

17. The Princess Bride (1987)

Just remember, never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

18. Heavy Metal (1981)

Even though it’s animated, this movie is definitely NFK. It’s based on the science-fiction comics anthology Heavy Metal, if that tells you anything.

19. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

This groundbreaking movie where live humans and animated characters (toons) mix is trippy enough when you’re sober. With some Fruity Pebbles in your system, it’s a truly epic experience.

20. The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy (2005)

Don’t panic; it’s just a movie.

Fuk Graffiti Graffiti Movies & Documentaries 2017

21. A Clockwork Orange (1971)

One of the original dystopian movies (before dystopian was a thing), A Clockwork Orange takes you into an alternate reality that is becoming more and more real every day.

22. Airplane (1980)

The jokes never stop in this comedy about a shell-shocked war hero who has to land a passenger jet after the pilots get sick.

23. Caddyshack (1980)

Another of the classic comedies from the 1980s. We’re pretty sure everyone in Hollywood was smoking dope back then, so you’ll certainly be able to relate.

24. Blazing Saddles (1974)

Mel Brooks at his absolute best. This satire about race in the old west will have you rolling on the floor.

25. Big Trouble In Little China (1986)

Kurt Russell’s character stumbles into the midst of a centuries-long battle in the underworld of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Starts out fairly normal, but then gets bonkers real quick. Perfect for those late-night toke fests.

26. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

Fuk

Feel like skipping work or school? Call in sick, brew some weed tea to make you feel better, pop in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and feel like yourself again.

27. Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny (2006)

Two slackers set out on a quest to steal a magic guitar pick. Along the way, they get into a rock-off challenge with Beelzebub that is reminiscent of Charlie Daniels’ The Devil Went Down To Georgia.

28. John Wick (2014)

John Wick is hyper-violent, so don’t watch this flick with kids around. The thing about it is that when you’re high, the action looks like the most amazing dance you’ll ever see.

29. Zoolander (2001)

We all feel like Derek Zoolander once in a while…especially when we’re high.

30. Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985)

Pee-Wee Herman was huge back in the day, and this cult classic is why.

31. Army Of Darkness (1992)

The third movie in the Evil Dead series has everyman’s hero, Ash, trapped in the Middle Ages, where he has to battle the evil dead to get back to his own time.

32. Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982)

A cornerstone of this movie is perpetually-stoned surfer Jeff Spicoli and his clash with “The Man” who wants him to shape up or ship out.

Graffiti

33. Napoleon Dynamite (2004)

Napoleon Dynamite has some good moments, but the whole movie is made better when you’re sharing a joint with your friends.

34. Better Off Dead (1985)

One of the highlights of this John Cusack coming-of-age film is when the character of Charles (who’s constantly drugged up), starts snorting snow. “Do you realize what the street value of this mountain is!”

Fuk graffiti graffiti movies & documentaries youtube

35. The Fountain (2006)

The Fountain is one of those movies that you can only understand when you’re high. Seriously.

36. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

This movie is an experience in itself, but it’s even better shared with friends who are all high. If you can make it to a theater where everyone’s dressed up and participating, you’ll never be the same again.

37. Speed Racer (2008)

The visuals in this over-the-top racing movie based on the 1960s anime series are stunning and can only really be appreciated after doing a few bong hits.

38. Reefer Madness (1936)

It’s worth your time to watch the movie that caused the marijuana scare of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s for nothing more than sheer historical value.

39. The Fifth Element (1997)

Trippy costumes by Jean-Paul Gaultier, crazy space action, and some great lines by Bruce Willis and Chris Tucker make this one of our go-to movies to watch high.

40. Blade Runner (1982)

Every fan theory about the 1982 film Blade Runner is wrong. We figured it all out. You can too if you watch this sci-fi classic high.

41. The Lego Movie (2014)

We’ve been watching our Legos come to life for years now (after we smoke some weed, of course), so this is really nothing new. But all the action, jokes, and stellar animation are made so much better on marijuana.

42. Dodgeball (2004)

Don’t let the trauma of high school dodgeball color your view of this hilarious movie. It’s good when you’re sober, but it’s great when you’re high.

43. Brazil (1985)

There’s very little humor in the movie Brazil, but the visuals alone are enough to blow your mind whether you’re sober or high.

44. Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)

Ibid. (That means same as above).

45. This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

This mockumentary about a fictional 1980s rock band is not to be missed.

46. Hardcore Henry (2015)

Hold onto your seats, folks. Hardcore Henry is shot almost entirely in first-person perspective, so you’re definitely going to need some marijuana to get through this one.

47. Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)

All the colors and the candy! This is a stoner’s dream come true.

48. 300 (2006)

We like watching this movie while we’re high because of all the crazy action. Plus, Gerard Butler yelling, “This is Sparta!” launched a thousand classic memes.
